ETFE ethylene tetrafluoroethylene copolymer

ETFE material (ethylene tetrafluoroethylene copolymer) is a high-performance fluoroplastic that combines the chemical resistance, heat resistance, and excellent mechanical properties of polytetrafluoroethylene. It is widely used in fields such as building membrane structures, industrial anti-corrosion, and cable insulation. ‌
  • Detailed Description

Characteristic

ETFE is a synthetic polymer formed by copolymerization of ethylene and tetrafluoroethylene, with a specific gravity of 1.7g/cm ³ and a molding temperature of 300-330 ℃. Its core features include:

High strength: The tensile strength reaches 50MPa (nearly twice that of PTFE), the impact resistance is outstanding, and the elongation rate is 100-300%. ‌‌
Weather resistance: Long term use temperature -80 ℃~220 ℃, can withstand extreme weather conditions (UV, high temperature, low temperature) and has stable performance. ‌‌‌‌
Chemical inertness: Resistant to acid, alkali, and most solvents, second only to PTFE and superior to PVDF. ‌‌
Transparency: The film has a transparency of up to 95% and does not block ultraviolet rays. ‌‌‌‌

Application Area
Architectural membrane structure: As a "soft glass" used in large-span buildings such as sports venues (such as Beijing Water Cube) and exhibition centers, its advantages include lightweight (0.15-0.35kg/m ²), self-cleaning, and a service life of over 25 years. ‌‌
Industrial anti-corrosion: used for chemical equipment lining, cable insulation layer (especially for atomic reactor cables), due to its adhesion to metals and negative pressure resistance characteristics. ‌‌
Medical device: Complies with biocompatibility standards and can be used for implanting device components. ‌‌
